WORKSHOP 2DATE: JUNE 13TH
TIME: 10AM - 4:30PM
THE HILLSIDES – FORMS IN MOTION, LIGHT AND SHADOW
The hillside unfolds in restless contours, shaped by wind and weather, rising and falling in a rhythm of its own. Granite outcrops push through the heather, their surfaces worn smooth, while limestone is fractured by deep clints and grikes, sheltering delicate orchids, mosses, and ferns. Wildflowers scatter across the slopes—bursts of yellow, purple, and white against the muted greens and greys of the land.
Rabbit burrows tunnel into the earth, their entrances hidden in tussocks of grass. Trees, twisted and wind-carved, lean into the elements. Further down, Loch Slapin glimmers below, a mirror to the towering presence of Blà Bheinn. The air carries the scent of damp earth and open moorland, mingling with the hum of insects and the cries of distant birds caught on the breeze.
THREE IMMERSIVE LANDSCAPE WORKSHOPS
Step into the landscape and engage with its shifting moods, textures, and rhythms. Each workshop takes place in a different environment, offering new ways to observe, interpret, and translate the world around you into expressive mark-making.
1. MAY 23RD – The Shore: Where earth and water converge.
2. JUNE 13TH – The Hillsides: Forms in motion, light and shadow.
3. JULY 4TH – The Forest: Hidden details and natural rhythms.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS
Led by artist Meg Miller, these workshops are an invitation to experiment, explore, and respond to the landscape in unexpected ways. Through a combination of drawing, mixed media techniques, and intuitive mark-making, we will move beyond representation into personal expression—allowing the elements of place to shape our creative process.
Each session is rooted in discovery: working with diverse materials, embracing spontaneity, and developing confidence in making bold, instinctive marks. The emphasis is on process rather than outcome, encouraging you to let go of creative hesitation and engage fully with the act of making.
EXPLORING MATERIALS & TECHNIQUES
Dynamic Mark-Making – Explore the rhythm of your strokes, layering movement and texture.
Unconventional Tools – Experiment with unexpected materials and found objects to create unique effects.
Layered Depth – Incorporate paint, ink, charcoal, pastels, and pigments to build rich, textured compositions.
Intuitive Responses – Observe the landscape, engage with its energy, and let your instincts shape your work.
HOW THE DAY WILL UNFOLD
