We have been hosting evening short courses with Julia for nearly a year. She is a popular tutor who will teach you methods and techniques to enthuse you with inspiration and to nurture your own techniques and art, giving you skills to pursue drawing and painting on your own.Julia is returning to Southern Maltings for a new course on a Monday afternoon in the new year, to teach her Drawing and Painting with Confidence Art Course. This course takes the production of art back to the basics to teach you skills to keep and grow your own art.
This course is split into two four week blocks, which straddle the February Half Term.

Part One: Drawing with Confidence

These courses are suitable for complete beginners or those artists that want to improve their techniques or just gain inspiration for new ideas in a friendly, fun and engaging group.
Julia Fonnereau is a qualified art teacher, having taught art to all age ranges from primary to A level and BTec Art and Design. She currently works as a freelance artist and surface pattern designer as Julia Fonnereau Design, specialising in animals and botanicals, and she exhibits her work all around the country including at our Southern Maltings Art and Craft Markets. Julia has been teaching art workshops to adults and children at Southern Maltings for over two years and her student return time and again for her pragmatic teaching and relaxed informal approach which nurtures your creativity.
Julia has a host of workshops and short courses in all forms of art including drawing, painting, watercolour, printing etc. Many of her workshops use interesting and original techniques including printing using a pasta machine! Her love is flora and fauna and she will share her passion for nature with you. Julia will also continue to run her evening set of courses on Tuesday evenings, which will be set into 4 week segments with a different theme for each.

This set of two courses is aimed at artists of all levels including beginners and Julia will teach you techniques to get you started or to improve your art. Suitable for anyone aged 14+.
The workshops are being run with a maximum capacity of 10 participants and will be for 2 hours from 1pm – 3pm at a cost of £80 for each four week block, or the equivalent of £20 per workshop. Light refreshments to help with your creativity are included.
The session will be held in our Main Downstairs Function Space, with entry via the main front door in Kibes Lane Car Park.
The first four weeks start on Monday January 20th and are every week on 27th January and 3rd and 10th February. There will then be a break for Half Term on 17th February. The second course will then start on 24th February and continue on 3rd, 10th and 17th March.
