Join SME on April 10th to raise funds for art, faith, and science education in our local MS Gulf Coast community!
Stella Maris Explorers is a 501(c)(3) public charity serving children in the greater Biloxi area. Our mission is to encourage art, faith, and science education through in-person programs and to help families raise well-rounded children.
Launched in the Spring of 2022, our pioneering ministry created the first STEAM-oriented program on the MS Gulf Coast that addressed the science and art needs of the homeschool community on a weekly basis: the Explorers Club. Through this weekly program, we are providing high-quality hands-on art, faith, and science enrichment through access to science manipulatives and experiments, superior art supplies, faith-based activities, and field learning that would otherwise be inaccessible to the children we serve. We believe the public benefits enormously from a focus on STEAM education. Children who are exposed to science and art education become adults and employees who are creative problem solvers and critical thinkers. Also, responsible citizens who value beauty, truth, and goodness.
The drawdown fundraiser we are planning for April will be our second annual fundraiser. We are hoping to raise funds to put toward our general building fund and the purchase of resources for our lending library. SME operates both a weekly Explorers Club program for approximately 90 registered children and our SME Luminous Lending Library, which is a free resource for available to all educators. Both programs have building fees associated with their operation. A building fund will allow us to plan for the future. In addition to the building fund, we’d like to add more lending resources to our library. The lending library features lesson-themed enrichment resource boxes available for check out by educators in classroom or home settings giving their student access to high-quality manipulatives and supplies. Lastly, a successful 2026 fundraiser will help us move towards our long-term goal of a non-profit art and science event center.
Community support is crucial to our continuing ability to provide our current in-person programs and to increase our capacity for these new programs. Thank you for your support! We can't wait to party with you on April 10th!
