In March one of our DAMN Speakers will give us a talk titled 🌾🪦FROM GRAIN TO GRAVE: a very human introduction to Slavic magic 🪦🌾
In this serious and somewhat unsettling exploration of Slavic traditions and ancestral practice, Paula opens a door into a landscape where magic is practical and unapologetically real.
Drawing on decades of lived practice, folklore and scholarship, she will guide you through rites of grain and grave, protection and curse, threshold and return in a world where the dead are kept more alive than you’d think, where the very soil holds power, where even a whisper carries consequences, where magic deals directly with endings and boundaries.
The talk touches on things perhaps best left undisturbed and it may leave you questioning what might be watching you from the thresholds when you think you're alone.
Expect bones.
Expect stories.
Expect discomfort.
There will be a show-and-tell of curious objects – and a short live magical working for those willing to witness it.
