This beginner course presents a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of dragonflies and damselflies, the Odonata! You will be introduced to their fascinating life cycles and ecology before observing the different life stages in action out in the field.
All are welcome from the dragonfly novice to the Hawk-eyed experts; its an experience to learn some new skills, discover a love for entomology and throw yourself into the wonderful world of minibeasts.
The day will start swiftly at 10 am in the walled orchard, with a mini-lecture from our resident expert David Beattie; followed by a chance to get hands-on with the minibeast themselves, where we'll talk through the sampling & ID processes used in the field.
The day will run from 10:00 to 13:00, dogs aren't allowed unfortunately as we don't want to damage our fragile ecosystems. All equipment will be provided, but we do recommend wellies & waterproofs!
