Dragonauts: American Cultures & Music

Join Dragonauts Crew 333 and Dragonauts Troop 333 at the Lotus Festival Day to enjoy the Culture of the Philippines and complete requirements for either ONE or BOTH of the following merit badges ON SATURDAY JULY 13 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM.

• AMERICAN CULTURES - Review the requirements and come prepared to discuss and share YOUR CULTURE AND ONE OTHER CULTURE OF YOUR CHOICE. Be prepared to paddle in a dragon row-boat with members of the medal-winning and only all Scout dragon boat racing team in the world. Be prepared to learn about 2 other cultures including Fillipino culture on July 13.

• MUSIC - Review the requirements and COMPLETE TWO OPTIONS OF REQUIREMENT 3 BY JULY 12 TO BRING TO DISCUSS ON JULY 13. Be prepared to learn and sing a song.

Minimum Age is 11 years old by July 15, 2024.

If you are NOT a registered member of Dragonauts Crew 333 and/or Dragonauts Troop 333 by JULY 1, 2024 you must bring a copy of BOTH of the following documents to check in with Dragonauts Crew 333 on July 13:

1) There are NO REFUNDS - if you find yourself unable to attend, please find your own replacement to purchase your spot on the roster from you directly.

2) The AMERICAN CULTURES MUSIC MERIT BADGE DAY is $45.00 per participant aged 11-17 years old - whether your Scout wants ONE or BOTH merit badges.

3) ALL SCOUTING AMERICA YOUTH WILL WEAR THEIR UNIFORM AND BRING THEIR BLUE CARD(S). Be prepared to paddle in the dragon row-boat with the world's only all-Scout dragon boat racing team in the world. Life vest, paddle and boat provided.

4) The Cost to Join Dragonauts Crew 333 is $383.00 for 12-months of membership including (a) up to 3 standard dragon boat racing competitions, (b) crew insignia, (c) crew swag. The Participant Cost for the American Cultures and Music Merit Badge Day at Echo Park Lake is included in the annual membership.

5) The Cost to join Dragonauts Troop 333 is $383.00 for 12-months of membership including (a) up to 3 standard dragon boat racing competitions, (b) troop insignia, and (c) troop swag. The Participant Cost for the American Cultures and Music Merit Badge Day at Echo Park Lake is included in the annual membership.

6) LUNCH IS NOT INCLUDED - PLEASE BRING MONEY TO PURCHASE FOOD AND DRINK AND SOUVENIRS.

7) PARKING FEES ARE NOT INCLUDED - PLEASE CARPOOL IF YOU CAN.

8) THIS IS NOT A DROP-OFF FOR ANY YOUTH UP TO 13 YEARS OF AGE.

9) IF YOU ARE SIGNING UP TO JOIN THE DRAGONAUTS TROOP OR THE DRAGONAUTS CREW - AND DO NOT HAVE A SCOUT UNIFORM - PLEASE WEAR RED OR YELLOW COLOR TOPS.

10) MAXIMUM ROSTER HEADCOUNT IS 8-PERSONS FOR THE DRAGON ROW-BOAT.

11) The Lantern Launch is a SEPARATE EVENT. Kapampangan: Ligligan Parol, also known as the Giant Lantern Festival, is an important annual tradition in the nine-day Christmas Novena. The Parol symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, joy and hope. The traditional ornamental lantern adorns streets, homes, malls and buildings in the Philippines.

The Lights of Dream Festival is our adaptation of the Philippines Giant Latern Festival, and features beautiful rice paper lanterns and custom-made lotus lanterns. In Asian cultures, illuminated paper lanterns symbolize our hope for a brighter future, appreciation for our loved ones, adn memories of those who passed away; while lotus lanterns represent rebirth, purity and life.

Throughout our event; we hope to create an incredible experience that brings families and friends together to celebrate the meaning of life and spread hope, peace and dreams.

Dragonauts CREW 333 usually meets on the FIRST SUNDAY of the MONTH except for MARCH, JUNE, AND OCTOBER when they meet on Dragon Boat Racing Competition Day. A detailed MEETING SCHEDULE will be shared with all Dragonauts VIA the Dragonaut INTRANET on the BAND app.
