About this Event
A livelier life drawing event, Dr. Sketchy’s is where artists of all levels draw fabulous burlesque and variety performers. Enjoy delicious cocktails and compete in zany drawing contests to win free drinks and other awesome prizes! We’ll start off with quick 1- and 2-minute gesture poses and gradually move up to 20-minute sketches. No drawing experience is necessary; just bring your own drawing materials—plus generous cash tips for our model—and join us for some fun figure sketching practice!
We're super excited to have the amazing Saymo Saymo back at Sketchy's as our November model—this cigarbox juggler extraordinaire wowed us back in 2022 with a series of super fun and different poses and outfits, not to mention his fantastic juggling skills! Here's more about Saymo:
“Saymo Saymo—”The Token Block Guy!”—is a born and raised Marylander, currently working as a high-end server for the Washington DC area. Okay, deep down the man is actually pretty darn strange. Saymo Saymo watched impressive cigarbox juggling performances by the likes of Kris Kremo, Eric Bates and artists from Japan. Inspired, he is now a 4-year young cigarbox juggler. But he doesn’t take himself too seriously—well, he does play a mean Kazoobie Wazobo horn!”
Come early (doors open at 6) to get the best seats and a drink—and even a delicious dinner—then stay after we wrap up to share your work with fellow artists over one last drink. As always, join in our crazy drawing contests for a chance to win some free booze and other neat prizes! No drawing experience is necessary—just remember to bring your own drawing materials, and be ready to generously tip our model.
Doors at 6:00 pm, drawing from 7-10 pm. 18+ to draw, 21+ to drink. $15 in advance, $18 at the door, plus service fees for online and in-person credit card transactions. BYO drawing supplies. No photography, messy paints, or dip pens, please (watercolors are fine). We strongly recommend keeping your drawing set-up neat and compact for this lovely, cozy venue.
