Fostering Family Closeness & ResilienceWe live in a stressful time in which anxiety, depression, and mental health problems continue to rise among children, teens, and adults. While parents question how to help their children and teens deal with these problems, many often struggle with their own mental health issues. Given the challenges we all face, it’s important to consider ways to help us become increasingly resilient. As Dr. Brooks will highlight an essential foundation of resilience throughout our lives is the presence of positive relations and connections we have with others. For children, these relations begin within the family setting. In his presentation, Dr. Brooks will describe specific, realistic ways in which parents can nurture family closeness, respect, and resilience and lessen mental health struggles.
