About this Event
A musical and poetic style rooted in African-American folk culture, the blues emerged at the turn of the 20th century. Beginning as orally learned verses and melodies, it became mainstream popular music during the 1920s, and since then has underpinned every phase of popular music history. Dr. Mike Daley Presents: The Story of the Blues is a lively and informative journey through the history of this music, featuring classic songs by Muddy Waters, Etta James, B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Ray Vaughan and many more. Mike is joined by Selena Evangeline (last heard in Dr. Mike Daley Presents: The Tina Turner Story) on guitar and vocals, Maple Blues and Juno award winning Alec Fraser on bass and percussion, and pianist/violinist Jill Daley.
The latest in a monthly series that has included sold-out lecture-concerts on Simon and Garfunkel, Carole King, the Beatles and Gordon Lightfoot, Dr. Mike Daley Presents: The Story of the Blues is a must-see for any music fan.
