About this Event

The 41st Annual Commemorative Breakfast honoring the national holiday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the longest running celebrations in the state of Florida. In 1986, the Governor and Cabinet of the State of Florida met in St. Augustine to launch the state's recognition of the national holiday for Dr. King. The committee has continuously held programs on the third Monday of January since that time.

Please come and enjoy a delicious breakfast, a music and song, a presentation by the keynote speaker, Dr. Genae Crump, a seasoned educator with nearly three decades of experience spanning state, district, and local education systems. She currently serves as the CEO of Crump Educational Consulting Group, LLC, where she leads initiatives in student testing strategies, accreditation, and school advocacy.

The theme for the Breakfast will be ""Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly," a direct quote from Dr. King's “Letter from Birmingham J*il," written in 1963 while he was jailed in Birmingham. The event will be held at The Renaissance St Augustine Historic Downtown Hotel on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 7:30 am to 9:30 am.

The following Sunday, January 18th, please join us in celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday celebration at Mount Moriah Christian Ministries, 676 Christopher Street, St Aug, FL 32084, at 4:00pm.

On Monday, January 19th, please join us for the Silent March at 9:00 am, beginning at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church lot (86 MLK Ave)to the Plaza de la Constitucion with speaker Apostle Earl Glisson of Anchor Faith Church, St. Augustine, FL. All are welcome to join!

These events are sponsored by the Old Town Trolley Tours of St. Augustine.
