The Pulitzer welcomes Dr. David J. Getsy for a public lecture on the legacy of Scott Burton. Known for his sculptures and groundbreaking performance art, Burton’s work challenges conventional boundaries, exploring themes of identity, the queer experience, and sexual cultures in the 1970s. Getsy will discuss themes from his book Queer Behavior, which highlights Burton’s contributions to performance art and his intent to make queer life central to them.
This program will take place in our lower main gallery and is free and open to the public. There will be limited seating with chairs located on the upper and lower levels of the museum and cushions on the stairs.
