About this Event
A.C.T.’s Education and Community Programs Department and Downtown High School’s Acting for Critical Transformations Project present an original piece of theater written and performed by the students. This performance brings students’ learning, research, personal journeys, and perspectives to life at A.C.T.'s Strand Theater.
American Conservatory Theater and Downtown High School present: After The War
There is so much happening in the world right now that our news cycle drowns out. It's easy to miss critical news about the Congo, Sudan, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan, El Salvador and so many more countries, and mainstream media does not mention America's relationship to conflict in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
This semester students in the Acting for Critical Transformations Project at Downtown High School examined the United States' role in creating and perpetuating humanitarian crises around the globe. Their show, After the War, features monologues, dances, scenes, and plays written by the students that remind us of the roots of these crises and America’s role; that offer us ways to work in solidarity with the people in resistance; and that inspire us to take action. Come be part of the change!
