Downriver Butterflies Spring Plant/Seed Swap/Giveaway!*No sales of plants or seeds are permitted. This is a free event.*
We will be trading out of the trunks of our cars. People normally bring a wagon or cart to go from car to car. You can also bring a folding table to set your plants on, or set them directly on the ground next to your vehicle.
What: Downriver Butterflies Spring Plant/Seed Swap!
When: Sunday - May 18, 2025 - From 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
Where: Park Ave, Allen Park, MI 48101 (public parking lot between McLain and Harrison)
If you google Zeal Credit Union 7240 Park Ave, Allen Park, MI 48101, it is directly across the street.
We focus on plants that attract butterflies and other pollinators but you may find a few other great things there too.
Great time to grab milkweed seed from other members, plants, other seeds, bulbs/tubers, houseplants, etc. Share/swap/or just come for seed and plants. You are also welcome to bring any garden related items to exchange (pots, books, tools, etc.)
This is a GREAT time to divide and thin your perennials.
*Label your plants and seeds. You can recycle containers, use plastic bags, zipper bags, old milk cartons, cottage cheese, yogurt or other plastic containers, or save the small pots from the annuals and perennials you purchase.
*Please do not bring diseased plants.
*It's a good idea to bring a wagon or cart if you have one.
Some people just bring things to give away and aren't really looking for anything in particular. People will tell you whether they are just offering or if they are looking to trade. Most gardeners are very generous and bring plenty of things with them. Newbies are welcome to come and take a look around. Please be sure to ask whether people are trading or offering with nothing in exchange.
