On November 20th The Down South Jazz Club is delighted to bring back to the stage of Club Sapphire The Mark VI Ensemble’. The Mark VI Ensemble is an 8-piece band of professional musicians hailing from Canberra, the Illawarra and Sydney who formed during Covid, and features unique musical arrangements by Mark Lord. Hear the songs you know with a distinct style reminiscent of the West Coast Sound. These most talented musicians come together to form this special sound.
They last played for the DSJC in February this year and what a night that was, thoroughly enjoyed by all. While still led by Mark Lord on tenor sax, the line-up of the band is slightly different this time, but we will still be treated to the smooth vocals of Tony Creek, very reminiscent if Mel Tormé. With Tim Benson on trumpet, Geoff Dickie on baritone sax, Colleen Chidzey on trombone, John Smith on guitar, Nerida Smith on keyboard and Geoff Gould on drums, we are in for another excellent night.
This great night of jazz will cost $20 for jazz club members and $25 for visitors. Music commences at 7.30 pm (doors open at 7 pm). Bookings can be made by sending an email to [email protected] You can also call Pam or George on 0479 065 590.
