On February 20th at Club Sapphire the Down South Jazz Club will be presenting The Mark VI Ensemble. The Mark VI Ensemble is an 8 piece band of professional musicians hailing from Canberra, the Illawarra and Sydney who formed during Covid, and features unique musical arrangements by Mark Lord. Hear the songs you know with a distinct style reminiscent of the West Coast Sound. These most talented musicians come together to form this special sound.Tony Creek is a vocalist with the style of the great Mel Torme. Supported by Tim Benson on trumpet, Mark Lord on tenor sax, Geoff Dickie on baritone sax, the jazz tones of Adrian Rodden on guitar, Gordon Sneddon on digital hammond organ, and drums and bass with the Geoff Goulds’ senior and junior father and son combination. This group was invited to appear in the inaugural Western Plains Jazz Festival which was held in May last year and appears on a regular basis in the Merimbula and Blackheath Jazz Festivals.
This great night of jazz will cost $20 for jazz club members and $25 for visitors. Music commences at 7.30 pm (doors open at 7 pm). Bookings can be made by sending an email to [email protected]. You can also call Pam or George on 0479 065 590 or just turn up on the night and pay at the door.
