Wine Spectator has called Portugal "the most exciting wine place on the planet" which a) is lofty praise considering the potential contenders, and b) extremely hurtful b/c we're pretty sure WE'RE the most exciting wine place on the planet. ??
Despite the Spectator's glaring oversight, we do agree that Portugal -- home to hundreds of indigenous varietals and some of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world -- perfectly marries tradition and modernity to produce the kind of wines that can make your soul transcend the boundaries of space-time. To introduce you to these wine wonders, we'll be joined by the legendary Matt Matthews of Proof Wine & Spirits. Legendary in the sense that everything we hear about him is exciting but completely unverified.
