Celebrate Frederick Douglass’ birthday by helping transcribe an online collection of Black History & Culture!Drop by the Clark Instructional Classroom in KU’s Watson Library from 11am to 2pm on February 13th to celebrate Frederick Douglass' chosen birthday.
About Douglass Day: We can thank Mary Church Terrell, an African American activist, educator, and author, for founding Douglass Day to honor Fredrick Douglass’ memory and activism. Terrell’s leadership would lead to Douglass Day being observed as a nationwide holiday and help serve as the inspiration for Black History month! The Colored Conventions Project has revived this tradition with the help of the University of Delaware to hold an online transcribe-a-thon that invites people to participate in the making of Black History. We are thrilled to be a part of this birthday celebration and can’t wait for you to join us! To learn more please visit the Douglass Day website https://douglassday.org/ .
