About "Curating Discomfort: Care Practices for the Colonial Archive" with Sean Cham [SG], Roy Ng [SG], other speakers to be confirmed.
This panel discussion examines how curators and museum workers engage with photographs that deal with contested histories, particularly histories of colonial exploitation and exoticisation. What do we do with such images in the archive / museum collection? How have artists used these images in their work? How do we guide audiences to navigate these discomforting histories and images?
This talk is held in conjunction with "Archival Allergies: Personal Remedies for Colonial Archives", curated by Sean Cham.
