Description: This workshop will begin with a dot dyeing demo and for the rest of the morning, participants will be able to dye their own commercially prepared fibre (top, roving, etc) experimenting with the technique. No previous dyeing experience is needed as we will use food colouring dyes with vinegar in the morning with many supplies being provided during the workshop. In the afternoon we will bring our spinning wheels out and folks will receive several different dot dyed fibre samples prepared by Beth to spin.
Participant Requirements: For this workshop, participants must be able to comfortably spin yarns.
Equipment to bring:
- Water-proof bucket/pail to take dyed roving home to heat set (instructions will be provided)
- 2 to 3 different commercially prepared roving/top fibres (approximately 25g each or so) - try to bring lighter colours
- Wheel in good, working order with repair kit
- A few empty bobbins + Lazy Kate or Spindle (for making samples)
- Hand carders and other usual items in your spinning basket
- Baggies, labels, markers, etc

Workshop is limited to 14 participants, please register early. This class has a minimum number of 10 participants to proceed. If this number is not reached we’ll let you know at the end of March. You will be refunded your full registration.
