BIOS:
REEVES GABRELS is an electric guitar virtuoso recognized for his expressive range and power. He was a creative collaborator with David Bowie from 1988-1999, co-writing, co-producing and adding innovative guitar work to a half-dozen acclaimed studio albums in addition to extensive touring. Since 2012, Reeves has been a member of the iconic band The Cure, whose artistry captivates audiences worldwide. Most recently, Gabrels is heard on the brand-new Songs of A Lost World album (released by The Cure on Nov 1, 2024).
With Reeves Gabrels on lead guitar for Doom Dogs, sonic brilliance is a hallmark of the band's performances. Listeners admire his "great, adaptive intuition for what each song needs most," and he has been characterized as "one of the most daring rock-guitar improvisers since Jimi Hendrix."
JONATHAN KANE, the heartbeat of Doom Dogs on drums, was a founding member of the influential band The Swans, worked extensively with Minimalist godfather La Monte Young, and was the only drummer for Rhys Chatham's orchestra of 100 electric guitars. He heads his own trance-blues band, Jonathan Kane's February.
Kane's drumming style is characterized by a powerful and hypnotic presence, driving the band's improvisations with precision and intensity as well as deep musicality. Kane's vast experience as a drummer and composer contributes to Doom Dogs' ability to create spontaneous and enthralling musical moments that leave audiences in awe.
The foundation of Doom Dogs' mesmerizing sound lies in the hands of bassist JAIR-ROHM PARKER WELLS, a legend in the world of experimental rock and jazz. A founding member of the avant-rock band Machine Gun, Parker Wells was also a member of the seminal German experimental Rock band Embryo during the 1970s. He lived in Stockholm, Sweden, from 1985 until 2017. Since then, he has played bass with many improvisational bands, including the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra.
Parker Wells' prowess on his NS Design electric upright and on bass guitar adds a rich and dynamic depth to the band's improvisations. His artistic sensitivity and expertise make him an indispensable part of Doom Dogs' sonic exploration, as the band expands the very boundaries of experimental rock and jazz.
DOOM DOGS is more than a band; it is a convergence of three brilliant musical minds, each contributing their distinct talents to create an extraordinary and unforgettable musical experience.
