About Dominic Moore-Dunson:
Dominic Moore-Dunson is an award-winning dancer & choreographer, a creative entrepreneur, and a local arts leader in Akron, OH. In 2016, Dominic established a large-scale community-based dance theatre project called Artie & The Black Card (formerly The Black Card Project) which premiered in Sept 2018. By partnering with arts, education, and business institutions/corporations the project inspires conversation around black identity, how it relates to economic development in the black community, and the solutions we can create to cultivate a more diverse pool of black professionals and other marginalized people groups.
Moore-Dunson performed eight seasons as a Company Member with Inlet Dance Theatre while serving Assistant to the Artistic Director. As an individual artist Dominic has received numerous recognitions including a 2021 Associate Artists at Atlantic Center for the Arts #180 with Doug Varone, 2019 Cleveland Arts Prize Emerging Artist Award for Theatre & Dance, a 2019 fellow of The Ann & Weston Hicks Choreography Program at Jacob’s Pillow, 2019 Knight Arts Challenge Winner, 2019 Akron Arts Alive! “Outstanding in Dance”, and 2019 “New Agent” by moCa Cleveland, 2018 commission by Akron Art Museum for his solo work, “CAUTION,” 2017 Knight Arts Challenge Winner, 2016 National Arts Strategies Creative Community Fellow, 2016 Collen Porter Fellow (International Performing Arts for Youth), and an inaugural member of Leadership Akron’s Diversity on Board Program. Currently, Moore-Dunson is a Research Resident Artist at the National Choreography Center at the University of Akron.
Dominic is a graduate of National Arts Strategies’ Executive Program for Arts & Culture Strategies at the University of Pennsylvania. Amongst his many roles as an emerging arts leader in Akron Dominic serves as a co-founder of the Akron Black Artist Guild, board secretary of ArtsNow, and as a board member of The Devil Strip Magazine.
About Francine Parr:
Francine Parr is a 25-year-old Akron native. She started performing at the age of 4. Her first notable role was the Hershey Kiss in The Nutcracker with the Ballet Theatre of Ohio in 2001. Francine attended Miller South and graduated from Firestone High School‘s VPA program on the theatre track. While attending university, studying musical theatre, Parr found that there was a huge missing piece of what she fell in love with theatre for, which was community. So, she left university and started the Millennial Theatre Project - a program of the Akron Civic Theatre, recently appearing as Deloris Van Cartier in MTP’s production of Sister Act. As a director, she has 10 plus credits including Avenue Q, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Hairspray, Dream Girls, Rocky Horror, and Carrie: The Musical.
