We are thrilled to announce the Dominator's Breakaway Challenge, an exhilarating shootout-style tournament designed to honor our founder, Dominik Hasek, and support Hasek's Heroes. This event, set to take place in August 2024, promises a day full of fun and competition. Not only will you get to showcase your hockey skills, but you will also be contributing to a fantastic cause, helping kids in our community play hockey.
What is the Dominator's Breakaway Challenge?
The Dominator's Breakaway Challenge celebrates the legendary shootout success of Dominik Hasek. The tournament features various age groups, including an adult competition, ensuring a competitive and enjoyable experience for everyone. The brackets are divided as follows:
DIVISIONS
Kid Divisions broken down by age
(8U - 10U) SAT 8/31 8am -12:30pm
(11U - 13U) SAT 8/10 8am-12:30pm
(14u - 16U) SAT 8/17 8am-12:30pm
Adult Division - SAT 8/24 8am-12:30pm
Tournament Format
Round Robin Play: Each team will compete in a round-robin format within their division, playing five games against other teams in their division. This ensures every team gets ample ice time and a fair chance to compete.
Wild Card Rounds: The bottom four teams from each division (East and West) will enter a Wild Card round-robin to determine one additional team to advance to the semi-finals.
Semi-Finals and Finals: The top two teams from each division, along with the Wild Card round winner, will advance to the semi-finals. The winning team from each division will move on to the championship game.
What You Get from Participating
Guaranteed Ice Time: Each team is guaranteed to play at least six games, ensuring participants get plenty of action and enjoyment.
Prizes and Recognition: Winning teams will receive awards and recognition for their achievements.
Food and Drinks Provided
Fun 4 hours both on and off the ice
About Hasek's Heroes
Hasek's Heroes was founded by Dominik Hasek with the mission to provide underprivileged youth in Buffalo the opportunity to play hockey for free. We supply all necessary equipment and training, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent kids from enjoying this amazing game. Through our programs, we not only teach hockey skills but also instill important life lessons such as sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership.
