The isolated location of the majority of the huts or Rifugios means that the luxury of bag transfer is not possible, most of them do not have vehicle access that typically is used to transfer your bag. All hikers will have to carry their belongings for the duration of the trek! This is the reason why AV1 is the most famous backpacking route. Through careful planning, we will have our bags transferred - daily. This increases the land cost significantly than a normal AV1 trekking & backpacking trip.

6 Days of hikes through Wild alpine meadows, deciduous and evergreen woods, lunar landscapes, high altitude terrain, alpine lakes, soaring peaks, dramatic walls, and towering heights. Sound like your kind of place? The Dolomite Mountains feature an infinite number of trails winding their way through these incredible landscapes, with breathtaking vistas adding to the drama. Our very own modified trek route deviates slightly from AV1 is a highlights trek. Instead of doing the complete 125 km, we are doing only 6 days of trekking around beautiful sections of it.

In summary our trek is a highlights trek of the Dolomites AV1.
We get to hike on the AV1 trail whilst avoiding some of the more difficult stages, whilst still seeing all the best sights and having some great hiking.
We will be hiking through a UNESCO protected area and exploring the interesting culture of South Tyrol - the only German speaking region of Italy. We will also get a glimpse at the history of the area, with a visit to the Lagazuoi pass, an important place during World War 1.
Aside from the history and culture, the most import thing is the scenery, the Dolomites is famous for its rock towers and steep cliffs. We will pass by and through many of these amazing rock features and see the rocky spires of the Tofana, Lagazuoi and Monte Pelmo.
The hike starts from the sleepy Zoldo valley and heads to Cortina d'Ampezzo following sections of the AV1 trail. After this hut to hut hike we will have some time to explore the stunning mountain town of Cortina before heading to Tre Croci for two nights.
Here we will have a day hike to Lago Sorapis, one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites.

This is manageable for active mountain walkers who can walk for between 5h and 8h per day along a long-distance trail. It will greatly help your enjoyment of the trek to arrive fit at the start, used to walks of similar distance and height gain to those that you are about to face.

A few weeks before the walk, jogging, running, swimming, and leg exercises would be excellent physical training to prepare yourself for the trek.
