About this Event
The Dutch community will hold its annual Dodenherdenking ceremonies on May 4th. It commemorates all civilians and members of the armed forces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands who have died in wars or peacekeeping missions since the beginning of the Second World War.
This event will take place at the military section of Mountainview Cemetery in Vancouver on May 4th. It will start from 10:15 to 11:30. There will be representatives of the Dutch Consulate, Federal, Provincial, and Municipal dignitaries, the Vancouver Police Department, local Dutch associations, the Canadian military, the Royal Canadian Legion, and the general public. The VPD bugler will play the Last Post before 2 minutes of silence, followed by the Wilhelmus and O Canada, performed live by Eva Mentz - van Gunsteren.
The event is free, and you can always show up at the last minute, but registration helps us organize the refreshments in the social room afterwards.
