Join us for a documentary screening of the first episode of "Ken Burns: Benjamin Franklin," an exploration of one of America’s founding fathers and his profound impact on the nation. As we celebrate America 250, this event highlights the enduring legacy of Benjamin Franklin within the framework of the United States' history.
Leaving behind his Boston childhood, Benjamin Franklin reinvents himself in Philadelphia where he builds a printing empire and a new life with his wife Deborah. Turning to science, Franklin gains worldwide fame from his lightning rod and experiments in electricity. After entering politics, he spends years in London trying to keep Britain and America together as his own family starts to come apart.
Engage in a post-screening discussion to explore how foundational figures like Franklin continue to inspire contemporary America.
