Shot across the state, starting in Astoria and headed to every corner, gorge, and valley, BATTLEGROUNDS AND BACKROADS is a documentary by Rogue Cell, founded by combat vets Brad Pietzyk and Sean Davis, who drove 4,000 miles across Oregon to uncover why the state ranks among the highest in veteran suicide. The documentary is not a parade of medals or flag-waving clichés—it’s a raw, intimate look at the quiet roads where veterans wrestle with trauma, identity, and purpose. Through candid interviews, unexpected humor, and powerful storytelling, the film invites you to see veterans not as symbols, but as neighbors. From coffee shops to poetry readings, from political debates to moments of reflection, BATTLEGROUNDS AND BACKROADS dismantles stereotypes and sparks a vital conversation about healing, community, and what it truly means to come home.
