What’s this about?We’re heading down to Nanaimo’s Soapbox Derby — cameras in hand — and we’d love you to join us. This event is fast, fun, family-friendly, and perfect for a CineCentral-style Doc Jam.
Whether you’re a filmmaker, phone shooter, or just curious, come out and capture the action with us. We’ll gather footage from anyone who wants to contribute and cut together a collaborative mini-doc to celebrate the day.
🎬 What’s a Doc Jam?
It’s simple:
You film what you see (the racers, the crowd, the crashes — all of it!)
You send us your footage
We edit it into a short video for CineCentral’s channels
All skill levels and camera types welcome — phones, DSLRs, GoPros, whatever.
🎯 What to shoot:
Kids (and adults!) racing their homemade soapbox cars
Creative builds, wheels, paint jobs, helmets
The starting line, downhill speed, and photo finishes
Wipeouts, trophies, cheering, drama
Close-ups, crowd reactions, or interviews if you're brave
Volunteers, signs, and good vibes
