During this 3-hour workshop you will be introduced to swing DJ’ing and provided with practical tips and tricks. The session is going to be conducted by Magdalena and Cornelius: experienced swing DJ’s, jazz lovers, organizers, and dancers.
Magdalena and Cornelius are going to share their knowledge and experience with you and try to explain why DJing by using “shuffle mode” is not exactly the best approach. They will show you in a practical way how to play at parties, explain what you should be aware of as a DJ and how to make sure that everyone is enjoying the party.
After completing the workshop, you should be able to play your very first set during social dancing and have the dancers enjoying themselves.
This workshop is both for people who have never DJ’ed before and for those who would like to deep dive and grow as DJ’s.

Dancer, organizer, DJ, explorer, amateur musicologist, jazz addict. On the dance floor since 2015. Copenhagen is my third local scene (after Gdańsk and Warszawa). I have been organizing exchanges, festivals, and local swing related events as a core member of Warsaw Swing Alliance and supporter of ShimSham – warszawski swing. When DJ’ing I focus on reading the dancers and boosting their energy by playing juicy pieces from The Swing Era. Favorite artist: Count Basie.

Cornelius likes to play music which is playful and great to dance to. He values the importance of supporting current artists who spend their time creating and playing music for dancers, while not losing the connection to the roots of the dance and the music. As all DJs, he enjoys sharing the music he loves, but cherishes the magic moments which happen on the dance floor even more.
