For this City Library event, which is open to teenagers aged 12-17, Steve will offer an introductory background to the DJ culture which originally developed in New York City in the 70s (via Jamaica). He will also do some basic tutorials on mixing music before doing a quick introduction to beat making & song creation. It’s just an introduction really, and it’s very relaxed. Plus it’s interactive and just good fun!
The New school is a platform created by Stevie G, that aims to empower young people through music and the arts. Taking inspiration from the original ethos of hip-hop culture, The New School aims to educate, mentor and promote new music and artistic talent through workshops/events/partnerships and other methods. Stevie delivers workshops in a wide variety of settings, including schools in partnership with Sample Studios, plus every few months in the Rory Gallagher music section of City library.
