Get your groove on with DJ Nomad (Lawrence Chan) this week at Rhythm City Strut, your weekly night for Lindy, Bal and jazz social dancing in Vancouver!Happy birthday to swing, blues and R&B clarinetist and saxophonist Jack McVea, born November 5, 1914! McVea played in Lionel Hampton's orchestra between 1940 and 1944 before leading his own band. From 1966 until 1992 he led the Royal Street Bachelors, playing in New Orleans Square at Disneyland - McVea learned to play the clarinet overnight in order to secure the job!
ADMISSION
• FREE for Intro to Swing students • $5 for all other RCP students
• $10 at the door. No one turned away for lack of funds.
• Free admission if you've never danced before - bring your friends!
• Volunteers always dance for free, sign up for a shift at the door!
