Discover how to implement a strategic planning process for your non-profit arts organization with guidance from Dr. Amy Kweskin, an expert arts management consultant and educator.
You will learn how to customize a strategic planning approach that meets the needs of your organization. This is your opportunity to Do it Yourself without having to pay a consultant.
Amy creates a safe and supportive cohort learning environment in which she shares tools, frameworks and resources to help you gain insights into strategic planning. Online Sessions:
This online series includes 3-online sessions, 3-hours each, over a 3-month period so that you can get traction on your arts strategic planning process.
- Wednesdays March 12, April 9 and May 14, 2025 from 3-6pm PT (7-9pm ET).
- Meets via Zoom.
- Content is presented in an interactive format.
- Two 10-minute breaks included in each session.
- Sessions will be recorded and accessible only to participants.
- For confidentiality, breakout sessions will not be recorded.

- Exploring the purpose of strategic planning
- Determining who to involve in the plan writing process and in what roles
- Establishing a Strategic Planning Committee / Working Group
- Engaging key participants in marketing research
- Conducting a Lifestage Analysis to assess business evolution
- Implementing research to inform a SWOT Analysis
- Developing active listening skills to facilitate plan creation
- Identifying key themes and trends to set plan Objectives
- Articulating SMART Goals
- Identifying Strategies and how they differentiate from Tactics
- Designing an Accountability by adapting the RACI matrix
- Setting realistic Timelines
- Determining Required Resources
- Evaluating plan effectiveness through Success Indicators
- Identifying steps for plan launch and ongoing activation
Recommended Participants:
Staff (paid or volunteer) and Board members of non-profit arts organizations that are considering strategic planning, are already in the planning process or are activating and evaluating an existing strategic plan.
