Yarn Options
New this year, you may supply your own or we can order for you.
Option A – Bring your own
You will need 3 lbs (1400g) of super jumbo (size 7) chenille yarn to make a roughly 3 foot x 4 foot lap blanket. KNITTING SIZE: US 50 (25 mm), 2.5 stitches – 2.5 rows = 4 inches, diameter = 3/4 inch. Do not get a larger diameter yarn. You may substitute other fibers, but pay attention to size and gauge as you may end up with not enough for your desired size of blanket.
Option B – We’ll buy for you (+ $45)
We’ve chosen a super plush chenille polyester yarn that matches the above specs. We’re including 3lbs of yarn which will make a roughly 3 foot x 4 foot lap blanket and you can order extra. Each additional skein will add roughly 1 foot x 2 foot to the finished size. With our yarn, most people finish 1/3 to 1/2 in class, maybe more. We buy in bulk and have it shipped which saves $ over local craft retailers. You may choose 1 or 2 colors and order additional yarn at $8 per skein (collected on day of class).
