We warmly invite you to join us for a very special performance to celebrate the lightest day of the year!
Globus Music ensemble together with soprano Elizaveta Pakhomova and mezzo soprano Anastasia Bondareva, presents a programme celebrating light. Each piece in this concert is a reflection on the Psalms and features the Moscow premier of two songs for piano and mezzo soprano by young American composers Tatev Amiryan and Shawn E. Okpebholo which are juxtaposed against works for soprano, violin, viola da gamba and harpsichord by the 17th century Danish/German composer Dietrich Buxtehude. By countering early with contemporary music Globus Music emphasizes the timelessness of the Psalms. The chaplain of St Andrew’s Church , Rev Canon Malcolm Rogers will offer reflections on the texts used in the musical settings throughout the concert.
We are grateful to Deus ex Musica and Crescendo International for supporting this event.
Entrance is by donation to the St Andrew’s Restoration Fund.
Doors open at 18:45.
