Training Session:
Trainer: Neil Varcoe is a journalist, lecturer and trainer with more than 20 years of experience. He’s trained more than 1,000 journalists, including in his world-first appointment as a Google Publishing Fellow, as a lecturer at Australian universities, and during stints with major news organisations such as the ABC and News Corp. Neil also fought disinformation from the inside at X, and launched Storyful Australia.

Alicia Vrajlal is the Editorial & Partnerships lead at Missing Perspectives and founder of Draw Your Box, a media company dedicated to covering experiences of and issues impacting South Asians. Previously Editor at HuffPost Australia, Alicia’s commitment to diverse news media has cemented her status in the industry as a respected thought leader.
Mariam Veiszadeh is an award winning human rights advocate, lawyer, TedX speaker, diversity and inclusion practitioner, contributing author, media columnist and commentator, and CEO of Media Diversity Australia. Also founded the Islamophobia Register Australia and has held multiple board positions. Born in Afghanistan, Mariam came to Australia in 1990 with her family as a refugee.
