LocationThe Farne Islands are off the coast of North Northumberland, between Bamburgh and Seahouses. With the largest colony of Grey seals in the North Sea, and huge colonies of Terns, Puffins, Guillemots, Shags, Eider Ducks and Kittiwakes, there is plenty of wildlife to observe, depending upon the time of year you are visiting.
The area around Seahouses and the Farne Islands is one of the richest and most beautiful on the east coast of the United Kingdom. Protected as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with many National Trust sites of interest and heritage surrounding, there is plenty to explore both in and out of the water.
Diving and Accommodation
On this trip, you’ll get valuable experience of diving from a hard boat with diver lift. We’ll be diving with Billy Shiel's Diving Charters.
To keep the costs down, we have arranged accommodation at the Seahouses Hostel. Pillows, sheets, pillow cases and duvets are provided. Please bring your own towel. Clean, warm and comfortable rooms are all you really need after a day’s diving. Good kitchen facilities for sorting out your own breakfast and packed lunches. And in the evening, why not have a group BBQ or just go down the pub?
Cost
2025 rates are £245 per person, to include 4 hard boat dives, 2 nights' accommodation and 2 refills for the dives on the Sunday. You will need your own kit (inc 2 cylinders) for this trip, or alternatively, we can hire kit inc 2 cylinders at club rates for the weekend. (£50). If you have your own kit but just need an additional cylinder, that is £10 to hire from us inc the air fill for Saturday's dive.
Transport - the trip does not include group transport to Seahouses, but we will endeavour to put people in contact with each other to arrange shared transport and split costs.
Trip planning
Once we know who is going on the trip, we will arrange a group meeting/dive at Gildenburgh or Dosthill so you can meet the group leaders who will go through the weekend's logistics.
We would recommend Advanced Open Water and Drysuit as the minimum qualification for this trip. There is plenty of time over the next few months to get to this level or do a scuba refresher - contact us to arrange as needed.
