If you are not aware, D118 is in nearly a $5mil. budget defect and it seems the residents of Wauconda are going to have to clean up the mess made by the “leaders” in this district. Now is the time to get informed, stay involved and fight back.
Wauconda Community Unit School District 118 has officially filed a resolution estimating next year’s property-tax levy and it’s a big jump.
💰 Proposed Increase:
The district plans to raise its total levy from $54.6 million to $78.8 million, which is a 44% increase over last year.
That means the amount the district collects through property taxes would rise by roughly $24 million in a single year.
🏠 What It Could Mean for Homeowners:
For a home valued around $300,000, that could mean paying about $1,500 more per year (roughly $125 a month) just from the school district portion of your bill — depending on your assessment and exemptions.
📅 Public Hearing:
🗓️ Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 7 PM
📍 District 118 Office Board Room, 555 N Main St., Wauconda
Anyone can attend or speak — this is our chance to ask questions, understand what’s driving the increase, and share feedback before the final levy is adopted.
Let’s make sure our community voices are heard and decisions are made with transparency.
