Distinguished Climate Speaker Series: Dr. Michael E. Mann

Sierra Nevada Research Institute presents renowned climate scientist and author Dr. Michael E. Mann for the first lecture of its Distinguished Climate Speaker Series. Dr. Mann will present "From Prediction to Reality: How Climate Science Warned Us, and What Comes Next, " discussing his groundbreaking climate research, how climate science warned us of today’s challenges, and actionable solutions for a sustainable future.

UC Merced climate scientist and Climatology Lab lead, Dr. John Abatzoglou, continues the program with his presentation, "Fending off California’s Feverous and Fiery Future," which will discuss the drivers of extreme wildfires that have impacted California in the past decade, how they are projected to change, how climate change will impact society and the environment in the Central Valley, and ways we can avoid the more dire impacts of these changes.

Audience Q&A session with both speakers follows, and the event closes with an author book signing. A limited number of Dr. Mann's latest book, with Peter J. Hotez, Science Under Siege: How to Fight the Five Most Powerful Forces that Threaten Our World, will be available for purchase.
