About this Event
Join Aura Freedom on February 20, 2025, as we gather a diverse and passionate group of individuals to commemorate Canada's National Human Trafficking Awareness Day with our Human Trafficking Knowledge-Sharing Symposium.
Disrupting the Tides is a full-day event focusing on Sex Trafficking that will serve as a collaborative space for frontline workers, advocates, survivors, academics, medical professionals, government leaders, and other community members and stakeholders to come together and engage in meaningful learning, unlearning, dialogue, and networking.
With the goal of empowering all those in attendance, the Symposium will feature:
- Knowledge-Sharing Sessions on key topics related to sex trafficking, survivor support and policy advocacy based on Aura Freedom's award-winning programming
- Panel Discussions with experts across various sectors, sharing insights and strategies
- Networking Opportunities to connect with fellow stakeholders and organizations working toward a common cause
- Artistic Performances to highlight grassroots empowerment and the voices of survivors
- A Resource Fair to equip attendees with vital tools, materials, and community connections
- And much more!
This event is designed to equip frontline workers, advocates, and other stakeholders with actionable knowledge and resources to enhance their practice, improve their service provision to sex trafficking survivors, and strengthen their advocacy efforts. It is also a space to reimagine anti-human trafficking strategies and interventions that centre the Primary Prevention of human trafficking, while still prioritizing survivor well-being and community safety.
The ultimate aim of the Symposium is to foster a collaborative network of anti-human trafficking stakeholders, empowering everyone in attendance with the skills, knowledge, and connections necessary to identify, prevent, and eradicate human trafficking and sexual exploitation in their communities.
Together, we can create meaningful, systemic change and build safer, more resilient communities for those at risk.
