About this Event
Event Description:
Prepare for a powerful and unforgettable evening as we premiere Disrupting Dayton, a documentary that sheds light on the 1966 Dayton Riots and the courageous efforts to desegregate the city's communities and schools. This film explores untold stories of resistance, resilience, and the ongoing fight for justice that shaped Dayton, Ohio. Whether you're passionate about history, social justice, or community, this film will leave a lasting impact.
But this is more than just a film screening—this is a full cultural experience and a fundraiser for Dayton Public Schools!
Make a difference by bringing school supplies or donations for Dayton Public Schools to support the next generation of learners. Your contribution will help empower students and ensure they have the tools they need to succeed as the school year goes forward. We are looking for book bags, notebookes, pencil and coloring tools, clothes and gift cards.
In addition, 50% of all donations made through ticket donations will be given to Dayton Public Schools. All donations are tax deductible as we are a 501c3.
Art Show: Discover the revolutionary artwork of Emory Douglas, former Minister of Culture for the Black Panther Party. His bold pieces capture the spirit of activism, resistance, and hope that resonates with today’s movements.
Post-Film Discussion: After the film, engage in a powerful and insightful discussion with the filmmakers and local community leaders. Dive into the history of Dayton’s fight for equality and explore what’s next for our own communities.
Bring your friends, your family, and anyone passionate about justice and history. This is a night to connect, learn, and be inspired by stories of real change.
