Displaced is a non-profit monthly concert series, where traditional & experimental music meets in spontaneous moments
About this Event

Displaced is a non-profit monthly concert series where traditional & experimental sounds meet in spontaneity, unifying to create a space for their displaced sounds - a space for artists & audiences to share, feel, rage and heal together.

This evening we will delve into the merging of soundworlds from Kristjan Kannukene, Morad Kashef, Nicole Bettencourt Coelho and Roxanna Albayati. Together they will collide their folk, spiritual and mysticism rootings, through a rich exploration of strings and digital processing.

Our time and profits are dedicated to supporting displaced communities from the South-West Asia & North Africa regions. Each month, a grassroots charity will be chosen, with whom our team has direct and reliable connections.

This month, profits will be donated to the , a fundraiser created by a coalition of trusted civil society organizations, activists and community initiatives in Lebanon that represent the many communities affected by the on-going escalation of violence. They use the funds raised to support minoritised groups such as migrant workers and Syrians and Palestinians displaced to Lebanon, and offer help with food, medicine, emergency housing and other urgent needs.

THE ARTISTS

Kristjan Kannukene is an Estonian performer-composer and improviser whose artistic focus is on uniting his voice and viola. He is keen on collaborating with composers and artists from various disciplines, as well as creating live-electronic and multimedia works himself. Driven by intermedial ideas, he has released his solo album, 333, in a blue-gold tetrahedron cover, and created an interactive spherical sound sculpture, 9. @kannukene

Morad Kashef is an Iranian composer-performer currently pursuing a PhD in Composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. His practice explores synthesizing aleatoric music and chance factors in Western contemporary music, drawing inspiration from the Azerbaijani Mugham tradition. His research practice often collides with free improvisation, where Morad enjoys the combination of Azerbaijani Mugham with Persian music and Western contemporary practices. @moradkashef

Nicole Bettencourt Coelho is a musician and sound therapist. Researching embodied interaction & erotics of performance with music technology. Inviting inner visions and free exploration, by focusing on intuitive action in the present moment. An emergent praxis at the intersection of sounding, moving and dreaming. @nmbc

Roxanna Albayati is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher. Her practice centres around combining experimental music with performance art and audio-visuals, where her music merges cross-cultural improvisation with Iranian Dastgāh and the physicality of performance. Through an embodied research and artistic practice, Roxanna explores the conscious/subconscious and self/other, fascinated by the process and natural evolution of discovery. @roxhsana
