About this Event
DISPATCHES Magazine | Issue 05 Launch Party
It's decided, and you're invited:
On October the 27th, at 2727 California Street in Berkeley, we're meeting to celebrate the launch of Issue 05: "California."
In "California," Natasha Boas sits down with artist and San Francisco pioneer of environmental Supergraphics, "Bobbie" Stauffacher Solomon, for her last interview. Jed Perl introduces the land of the Great Subculture. Steve Wasserman recalls that time he harangued Orson Welles for an obituary of Jean Renoir for the Los Angeles Times.
In our latest Person-to-Person installments, Simon Wolf talks to poet Cedar Sigo about his years in the Tenderloin and the Mission, and Marius Sosnowski covers the Chicano art scene in Los Angeles with pastel artist and muralist Judithe Hernandez. Our featured poet is Rosie Stockton. Dispatches by Rose McMackin, Andrew Moss, Victoria Nelson, Jeff Hewitt, and more.
What else? Come to the launch party and you'll find out.
Let's also extend a special thanks to all of you who attended last year's debut event, where we toasted the release of Issue 04: The Postwar.
To unveil the California issue, we are returning to 2727 California Street with an exciting three-hour program.
Enjoy food and refreshments, music, great company, the opportunity to listen to contributors speak in detail about their individual pieces. We'll also be hosting a raffle, selling merchandise, and making a special announcement! Be sure to save the date and we'll have updates for you in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to celebrating the launch of the California issue with you.
Warmly,
