Erika Fotsch, Director of Education & Outreach at the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana, will speak about historical and contemporary housing discrimination in the U.S. with specific content about Indianapolis. She will also discuss the Fair Housing Center's work locally to combat these issues. This talk will also spotlight information featured in the exhibit Unwelcomed: A Fair Housing History of Sales & Lending Discrimination. This lecture will take place in Krannert Memorial Library room 208.

The Department of Sociology alongside The Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana (FHCCI) presents Unwelcomed: A Fair Housing History of Sales & Lending Discrimination. The interactive exhibit educates participants on the systemic barriers that have impacted today’s neighborhoods through redlining, racial covenants, steering, neighborhood intimidation, and other forms of housing discrimination.
The two-sided 12 panel exhibit, Unwelcomed, will be located on the second floor of Krannert Memorial Library throughout the entire month of September. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to visit and reflect on the impact systemic barriers in housing have had on shaping today’s neighborhoods in our community.
The exhibit will be located in Krannert Memorial Library and will be open to the public during KML's normal operating hours from August 30 through September 26
