Do you know what healthy stress feels like? It’s a complete cycle of activity and rest. Bringing healthy stress into your life in an intentional way helps you recover from stressful situations faster. In this workshop, you’ll learn how the combination of movement and meditation can regulate your nervous system. If you’ve ever thought “I feel like I can’t relax,” then this workshop is for you!
First, we’ll learn about a healthy stress cycle, what’s disrupting that cycle to keep you feeling stressed, and what to do about it. Then, we’ll put this learning into practice and move to the dance floor. Kate will offer suggestions for movement as well as space to improvise, similar to JourneyDance. As the tempo of the playlist changes, we’ll slow down and end with a guided meditation for relaxation.
Please wear clothes that are comfortable and won’t restrict movement. Yoga mats, bolsters, and blankets are available at the studio. You might want to bring a notebook and any other props you like for your “rest nest” at the end. (Participants have brought along an eye mask, a small pillow, a favorite blanket, and crystals.)
