This event is a visual story of some of the highlights of Scott Hill’s career as a Rochester police captain, commander of the department’s scuba squad, and after police retirement, SVP of Operations at the Rochester aerial imaging company Pictometry. Scott will blend his career experiences to describe the discovery of the first steeled hulled, screw driven steamboat on Canandaigua Lake. Using historic records, aerial photography, underwater photos and video, the audience will learn about the shipwreck Seneca Chief, its interesting discovery, and its significance in Canandaigua Lake history.

Scott C. Hill
Presenter Scott Hill is a retired captain of the Rochester Police Department and commander of the police Scuba Squad. Scott was also the Senior VP of Operations for Eagleview/Pictometry, a Rochester based aerial imaging company.
Prior to joining Pictometry, he worked in law enforcement, serving as Captain and the commanding officer of a large, high crime precinct in Rochester, New York.. As commanding officer of the Research and Evaluation Section, he directed the development of the first digital mug shot system for law enforcement in the nation. Hill served as the commanding officer of the department’s Scuba Squad. Hill is an accomplished photographer with expertise in aerial, land, and underwater photography. His images have appeared National Geographic, which featured underwater photos and a process he developed to construct a photo mosaic of a 19th century horse-powered ferryboat shipwreck he discovered in Lake Champlain.
