This family evening event will show children what life was like in the past before electricity. Learn about all the different sources of light--and even make your own candle! Experience what bedtime was like, from taking a bath, to putting on your pajamas, to brushing your teeth, to tightening your rope bed and sleeping on a straw mattress. Walk through the darkened museum by flashlight and learn the stories of the men, women, and children of the past, and complete a scavenger hunt for special prizes. This event is best for children ages 6-12. Activities are ongoing throughout the program, so you can arrive at any point in the evening. Galleries may be different temperatures, so we recommend wearing comfortable layers--and remember to bring your flashlight!
Space will be limited to provide the best atmosphere for our participants. Admission is $10.00 for adults and children ages 6-18; members receive 50% off with discount code. Children 5 and under are free. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. No food or snacks will be available for purchase, but there are plentiful sit-down and quick dining options in downtown West Chester.
Discovery in the Dark will run rain or shine (it's entirely indoors.) In the event of dangerous weather forcing CCHC to cancel the event, all tickets will be refunded.
