About this Event
What You’ll Learn & Experience:
Join us for our Discovering Medicinal Plants of the Fraser Valley workshop, co-hosted with Meg Jordan from Restore Earth Connections!
Plant Identification & Observation – Get to know key medicinal plants such as cottonwood buds, dandelion, hawthorn, licorice fern, plantain, chickweed, cleavers, stinging nettle, strawberry leaves, violets, and yarrow. Through interactive exercises, you’ll develop confidence in recognizing these plants in their natural habitat and learning how they grow throughout the seasons.
Ethical & Honourable Harvesting – Learn the principles of sustainable foraging, how to respectfully gather plants, and ways to integrate medicinal herbs into your own garden or home landscape.
At-Risk, Invasive & Poisonous Plants – Understanding the ecosystem is just as important as knowing what to harvest. You’ll learn which plants are at risk, which invasive species to avoid, and which poisonous plants to recognize to ensure responsible and safe foraging.
Winter Tonic Tea Break – Warm up with a nourishing, herbal Winter Tonic tea, crafted by Meg, as we pause to reflect and discuss seasonal plant activity. Bring a mug and enjoy this soothing infusion!
A Seasonal Exploration – This workshop focuses on Winter & Spring medicinal plants, but stay tuned for our Summer & Fall edition to complete the cycle of year-round foraging and plant knowledge.
This workshop is perfect for those who are interested in foraging, herbalism, gardening and /or nature looking to expand their plant knowledge, learn ethical harvesting practices, and deepen their connection to the land.
