Join Bexley small-business owner and educator, Rayna Weiner, for a one-of-a-kind, hands-on experience. During this workshop, participants will be broken into small groups and will experience first-hand what it's like to learn at school as a student with dyslexia. Participants will work their way through six stations. These stations will simulate different aspects of learning that are affected by dyslexia and related learning disabilities. While students experience the effects of dyslexia in many different ways, this simulation is designed to heighten awareness of some of the challenges they may face.About the Presenter:
Rayna Weiner is a Fellow with the Orton Gillingham Academy and has a master's degree in special education. She is the owner of Columbus Tutoring Services, which provides private tutoring, speech therapy, physical therapy, music therapy, and teacher professional development throughout the metro Columbus area and central Ohio. Rayna has over 20 years of experience working with students, teaching reading, and mentoring teachers.
