Join us for a day of discovery and immerse yourself into the wonderful world of Blues dance!Like Swing dance, Blues dancing is a group of dances that evolved in African American communities in the early twentieth century. Danced to a variety of blues music styles, it has a strong emphasis on improvisation, polyrhythms and grounded movement.
In this workshop, you will develop an understanding of the history and aesthetics of Blues and explore fundamental rhythms and movement to express yourself with confidence. You will learn solo and partnered movement covering different styles of Blues. You will also have the opportunity to try both lead and follow roles with others in the class.
This is an open level workshop so no prior experience is necessary, the content will be suitable for beginners and those with some experience. All attendees will also get free entry to the evening social dance after the workshop. Sign up now as places are limited.
If you can only join us for the social dance in the evening, social passes are available too.
For your comfort, and those you will be dancing with, we suggest that you bring a change of clothes (e.g. T-shirt) and a water bottle for this all-day workshop.
