Book a 30 minute one to one session with Aunty Social Director and Careers Adviser Louise Ashcroft for advice on careers in craft.
With years of careers advice and guidance experience at Connexions and Blackpool School of Arts, Louise knows what colleges, universities and employers are looking for and is ready to help you!
These sessions are perfect for young people looking to study crafts (e.g. fashion, textiles, ceramics, printing) at college or university, or those looking to start work.
You can:
- Ask for advice on choosing what to study, e.g. which GCSEs or A Levels will help you get that dream career
- Get help with your UCAS personal statement
- Review your CV: get tips on how to improve you it and find out how best to showcase your skills
- Learn about creative and craft-based courses and opportunities near you
- Find out about financial support to help you with study costs
- Learn ways to access work experience

About your Adviser
Louise has worked as a Careers Adviser for the past 17 years across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast via Connexions, the Young People’s Service and Blackpool and Fylde College. She also has 10 years Youth Work experience working with the Young People’s Service and The Magic Club youth club.
Before becoming a Careers Adviser she spent 2 years teaching Performing Arts at Blackpool and Fylde College. She has a PGCE and a Level 6 Careers Guidance qualification.
She is a strong advocate for social mobility and supporting people to reach their full potential. Louise currently works as a Careers Adviser at Blackpool and Fylde College and is linked to the Blackpool School of Arts, alongside her position as director at Aunty Social.
About Discover Creative Careers
Discover Creative Careers is a government funded, industry-led programme that is working to ensure there is a larger and more diverse intake of talent via a broader range of routes into the creative industries. The free to access hybrid programme of activities and resources offers meaningful encounters with industry professionals, online tools, training and support throughout the year. Its annual flagship Discover! Creative Careers event takes place every November, connecting thousands of young people with hundreds of workplaces to give hands-on insight into the creative industries.
The delivery of Discover! Creative Careers is led by ScreenSkills in partnership with over 25 organisations and through collaboration with industry, education and careers professionals.
