About this Event
The Basel Carnival, known as "Basler Fasnacht", is one of the oldest and most unique carnival celebrations in Switzerland. During the tour, participants will get an overview of its history, the origin of the Morgestraich and why it starts at 4am on the Monday after Ash Wednesday, as well as typical food of the festival.

15:30 - 16:00: Guided Tours on History and Tradition:
- Explore the historical roots of the Basel Carnival, including its medieval origins and the evolution of customs and traditions.
- Learn about the significance of costumes, masks, and the symbolism behind various elements of the carnival.
16:00 -16:30: Parade Viewing:
- Attendees will check out the vibrant and lively parade together. The parade features Cliques showcasing their creative costumes, lively music, and unique performances.
16:30 - 17:00: Traditional Carnival Food Discovery:
- Discover and indulge in the traditional carnival foods of Basel. (Food consumption is not part of the ticket price).
From 17:00: Celebration Together:
- Participants will have the opportunity to celebrate together, experiencing the joy and camaraderie that defines the Basel Carnival.
